The newly painted house

September 8, 2011

and now to the details…

A beautiful new wood panel was added to the front. Access to the house is from the side door. The two end square panels at the top will be able to be opened to let in light.

Outside In

Raising the Roof

The back half of the roof has been removed and will be re-framed.

The old hay loft pass through …

A view of the ridge where the roof front and back meet. The blue tarp created an interesting color filter for this photo!

With the back roof gone we can see the freshly leafed out trees

Through out this project I will try to include photographs of the talented people building this house.

Here is Toby taking a moment….

Support System

Now that spring is officially here, work has resumed on the barn-into-residence transformation. This week pilings were installed and I went over to photograph the new work. At this point I could get closer to the building and was able to shoot some of the interior as well. It’s incredible to be able to see the structure in this most basic form. Whoever buys this home will be familiar with its most intimate details and humble beginnings! You’ll be able to say, “I knew you when…”

Stage 3

Foundation work will begin again with the Spring thaw. Stay tuned!

Dig This!

The ground beneath the barn has been dug out, the building supported by cribbing and is now waiting for a new foundation.
